Again, it's an all-day event -- with other activities planned, such as a bit of outdoor sports, trivia contests and more. It's close to a pristine beach, so also a wonderful chance to enjoy a swim or get a tan. Feel free to bring your own food and drink, though excellent food and plentiful beer and water (and more!) are on sale at the site. The festival begins at noon or so, and the music starts at 3pm.
There are accommodations (for those who don't feel like camping out) in nearby Kärdla; please contact one of us for more info. For those of you camping out, there is a 50 kroon fee (payable on the day to the campsite itself). Bring your own gear (if you need to hire gear please contact us before the festival! We will try to give you some advice.) -- and make sure you have some mozzie repellent too!
Some travel info. There are many ways to get to Hiiumaa from Tallinn (we are assuming you know how to get to Tallinn, the capital of our beautiful country!). You can drive, fly, or bus it there. Here are the best ways:
Drive: One good way is to drive from Tallinn to the port at Rohuküla (which is near Haapsalu, somewhere between 90 minutes to 2 hours drive in scenic woods). There you will need to take a ferry to Hiiumaa (
you can find the schedule here), and then a short drive to the festival site near the village of Kuri. We can help with directions, of course.
Bus: You have two choices (both will involve some taxi travel). You can take the bus directly from Tallinn to Kärdla (and cab the short distance to the festival site) or take the bus to the Rohuküla port (and take a slightly longer cab ride after the ferry ride to the site). Either way, you can get more bus info from the
Estonia Tourism site or
the Hiiumaa tourism site. If you plan to just go to Rohuküla, make sure you look at the ferry schedule too (the bus to Kärdla is, obviously, timed with the ferry).
Fly: Yes, you can fly to Kärdla from Tallinn. It's a quick way there, only about half an hour over a very scenic route. It is surprisingly cheap to do it this way, and you need to take a taxi to the festival site from there.
Here is the schedule.
